Latest News SOHK’s Deborah Griffin is the RFU’s first female President We'd like you to meet someone very special to School Of Hard Knocks (SOHK) - and someone equally important to the world of women's rugby here in the UK. Deborah Griffin OBE has been a champion of ours since 2012, serving on our board of trustees as Chair for 10 years. Today, we are proud to have her as our Life President. Beyond our charity, Deborah is well-known in the rugby world. Her journey began as a rugby player at University College London where she played in the first game of women's rugby in England in 1978. In 1983, she was one of the founding members of the Women's Rugby Football Union. Deborah continued to go from strength to strength, championing and organising the first ever Women's Rugby World Cup (WRWC) in 1991. Her passion and influence in the rugby sphere continues to grow, having now been appointed the first female Rugby Football Union (RFU) President from 1st August 2025. A remarkable achievement and so well deserved! Feeling as if Deborah’s story is calling back to its opening chapter, this appointment comes just in time for the WRWC 2025, providing Deborah with a new platform to further shape and grow the future of women’s rugby in the UK. We are thrilled for Deborah and are eager to see what she will achieve as President!
