I thought the pain of playing was well behind, but oh no...

Later this summer I will be dusting off the boots again to play a game of rugby with a difference. I will be playing for the School of Hard Knocks charity, of which I am a proud Patron and was a founding trustee, against another brilliant charity that I am passionate about and proud to be an ambassador of – The Wooden Spoon.

I would be a little apprehensive about playing 80 minutes, but here’s the thing: This game will be an attempt at breaking the Guinness World record for the longest ever game of rugby union. That is just two teams with squads of 23, aiming to break the current record of 29 hours and 45 minutes.

It sounds like a pretty crazy endeavour – however the point of this is not so much to break a record but to raise much needed funds for these two brilliant charities that support some of society’s most vulnerable children. So I am going to be straight and simply ask if you would get behind the work of SOHK by sponsoring me to play. It will be the physical challenge of a lifetime for all 46 players involved… you can breathe a sigh of relief that you’re not playing – but you can play your part by digging deep and being generous.

Please take a couple of minutes and click the donate button on this page...

Many thanks,

Gomars,
