Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 p.a.

The Organisation

School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) uses sport, a research-based curriculum and mentoring to help people improve their physical and mental wellbeing. We help unemployed adults to find sustained work; and children at risk of permanent exclusion to complete their education.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the School of Hard Knocks team to assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, as well as managing our social media and communications. You will manage the charity’s portfolio of fundraising and friend-raising events including our in-person and virtual events. This is a broad role with potential for career growth.

Responsibilities

Events

  • Working as part of a team to deliver a diverse portfolio of events
  • Organise networking opportunities for charity supporters
  • Manage content production for SOHK events.

Communications

  • Drive social engagement across all social media channels by: creating impactful content; planning and scheduling posts in line with best practices; managing paid-for social advertising and measuring success against KPIs.
  • Plan and deliver SOHK campaigns including print, social media and digital, and analyse and report on the success of campaign delivery.
  • Develop and deliver a marketing strategy to engage and steward all SOHK supporters.
  • Develop and deliver SOHK’s digital strategy, overseeing the charity’s online presence including website, digital, e-marketing and social media.
  • Oversee production of digital content for individual campaigns and organisational branding, publicity and information.
  • Be a brand guardian and ambassador for SOHK
  • Manage SOHK’s mailing list and create and distribute regular newsletters.

 

Knowledge, skills, experience

Essential

  • A proven ability to develop and coordinate successful projects and events
  • The ability to prioritise tasks within competing work demands and to meet deadlines
  • The ability to work on own initiative showing a proactive approach to work
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills
  • Experience using website content management systems
  • Sound knowledge of managing Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube platforms.
  • Proven experience of working in a communications, marketing or fundraising role
  • Experience with email marketing software and creating e-newsletters
  • Experience designing and creating basic marketing materials

Desirable

  • Previous experience of fundraising, communications or direct marketing in the charity sector
  • Good working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign or other Adobe Creative suite software
  • Video editing experience
